Online Marketing tips for your business may seem like a scary thing for those who are introvert entrepreneurs, it definitely was for me.
While it’s no secret that introvert solo-preneurs can maintain a successful business, there are still aspects of marketing that can trigger the social anxiety that can arise from public situations, or just putting yourself “out there”.
So, how can you run a successful business when you are an introvert?
The age of technology and specifically the internet has made it possible for those of us who suffer from social anxiety to be able to market our business all from the comfort of our own home.
Check out the ten online marketing tips for introvert entrepreneurs:
Online Marketing Tips #1: Find Your Strengths.
As an introvert biz owner, you probably spend a lot of time alone in your home office and therefore, a lot of time with your thoughts and ideas.
This is good for someone wanting to create content like write up an email newsletter, blog post or pushing out some posts on social media. You don’t need to dictate your project to an assistant anymore; you’re free to do all of this really well by yourself, in front of your computer screen.
This is a big advantage for the introvert entrepreneur.
Online Marketing Tips #2: Keep An Eye On Your Competitors.
An introvert has perfected the ability of being a wallflower.
Introverts see and hear everything when others don’t think they’re looking.
Us introvert entrepreneurs can use this ability to keep an eye on industry leaders and competitors. See what they are doing for their own online marketing and implement these practices into your online marketing to help further your business.
We have the patience and the innate curiosity to go down that research rabbit hole!
Online Marketing Tips #3: Develop Meaningful Online Relationships.
When you are developing your business online, you want to make sure to have a strong relationship with valuable followers. It’s not about the quantity, but the quality of followers.
If you are paying just for bots to drive up your follower count, people will start to notice when most of them look fake. You want engagement and people following your business who can create a richer body of consumers to interact with.
Online Marketing Tips #4: What Is Holding You Back?
Even with an online presence, social anxiety can still come up.
That negative feeling that is associated with being seen can still come despite being behind a computer.
Realize what is holding you back from practicing online marketing and learn how to overcome this anxiety. Become more confident in being seen on a public scale and realize the benefits of driving up your social presence.
Marketing is all about being seen and being online does not mean a lack of eyes on you, just simply in a different way than before.
Online Marketing Tips #5: Don’t Stretch Yourself Too Thin.
There are a lot of social platforms out there and it can be confusing to pick which one is the best for your business. Assess who your target audience is (this is part of the branding process) and what the best social media platform is to reach them.
Focus on one or two and forget the rest. If you try to spread yourself too thin to all of the platforms, you are sacrificing quality for quantity.
That anxiety of doing too much comes back and your online presence will suffer for it. You don’t need to be everywhere to be seen; you just have to be in the right places!
Online Marketing Tips #6: Be Active Though
This being said, you should be active on those social media sites that you have signed up for.
It’s not enough to occasionally post a blog post or promote a special event for your business. You should be on that social media site every day, throughout the day.
By having a constant presence, you are not only remaining engaged and present to your followers, but you are also making yourself more comfortable with engaging with other people.
Yes, this sounds like it’s going to take a lot of time but, you can always hire a VA to do it on your behave or simply use an auto posting tool that will automatically post for you.
Online Marketing Tips #7: Engage With Other Introverts.
You are not the only introvert entrepreneur out there attempting to reach out by online marketing.
We are many!! =)
Create a group of other introverts in other to strategize with them. Learn from your peers; what is the best route to go when you are looking to reach out to the public.
You are an introvert, but you don’t want to be alone. This could lead to burn-out and could cause you to fall off the social media map; which, you don’t want. So, by engaging with others, you have the opportunity to learn.
Online Marketing Tips #8: Increase Your Online Presence With Videos.
Now, you may think, the whole point of an online presence is to avoid having to show your face. But, there are a lot of introverts that find it easier to connect with people online by doing videos.
That’s me! I love recorded videos but, not really FB lives.
With recorded video you are showing your face, but you are only speaking to a camera. There are plenty of YouTube stars who have a lot of followers, post daily, and describe themselves as introverts.
Having a face to the name/brand is beneficial for your follower count and will give you more confidence to drive your business further.
Online Marketing Tips #9: Balance Your Work-Life Relationships.
There can be a moment where you are almost too engaged with your online marketing. You become distant to those in your real-life and essentially become more introvert than before.
Make sure you take moments to step away from the computer or phone to interact with real people. Whether it’s your family, friends, or even physical networking events, pick these moments to remind yourself that what makes marketing important is a human interaction.
Online Marketing Tips #10: Interact With People Via FaceTime.
For your business to progress, you will need to interact with people. This doesn’t just mean videos posted online, but also interacting with other entrepreneurs.
You can create great partnerships with other entrepreneurs by setting up video conferences using something like Zoom or even Skype (I think people are still using Skye). You are still sitting somewhere that you deem comfortable, but you are having real-life, face-to-face conversations with people that is incredibly important in helping your introverted anxieties.
That’s it! =)
Marketing is an important aspect of driving revenue to your business and while it may seem like a difficult task for an introvert entrepreneur, turning to an online platform can be exactly what you need to reach people while not having to deal entirely with “extrovert heavy” marketing strategies.
With these online marketing tips, you can promote your business and create a social media a presence that builds your confidence and increases your online reach to the public.

"As an introvert entrepreneur I don't particularly enjoy chasing strangers online, networking events, talking about myself on social media or anything else you can think of that involves selling! But, because I learned how to market online the right way, I don't have to do those things."
