Guess what? Branding is the number one strategy that made the biggest difference in my direct sales business when I started doing it the right way.

Let’s first talk about what branding is NOT.

It’s not a logo.

It’s not your colors.

It’s not your tag line

The truth is, creating those visuals happens after you’ve done the hard work of developing your brand. And once you do that, everything else just sort of falls into place.

A lot of people do this process backwards!

I know I did!

Back then, when I first started, I thought branding meant just getting a logo and having a nice tagline and maybe have a Web site with my face plastered all over it. But, I didn’t really know what to do after that.

It didn’t really help me in my business. It didn’t help me with my marketing in any way. It didn’t make things any easier or clearer.

Until I learned the truth about branding and how it’s suppose to work when you do it right.

So, why is branding so effective?

 

#1 CLARITY AND VISION

Branding gives you clarity and vision for who you want to be, what you want to say, what you want to be known for, and how you want to be perceived online.

Having a personal brand around your direct sales business makes your marketing more purposeful. You’re not just throwing things out there hoping something works. It eliminates that confusion which basically makes you more productive. So you’re not spending hours and hours on Facebook trying to recruit people. You’re actually doing something that you can get in, initiate that plan, and get out.

 

#2 IT SEPARATES YOU FROM JUST BEING A DISTRIBUTOR FOR A COMPANY TO BEING AN ACTUAL BUSINESS OWNER

When your friends and family doubt you because they believe a direct sales business is a pyramid scheme or not a real business. When you feel a little uncomfortable about approaching people or don’t feel confident about what you’re doing, they’re really going to change their tune and congratulate you and be excited for you when they see how professional you look. They will see how serious you are and be able to grasp the possibilities of what you are embarking on when you build a persona brand around your direct sales company.

See, a lot of times when we start our new network marketing companies we don’t really think about what it means to build a business.

Right?

We are really just taught by the MLM Company how to be a sales person. The first thing they tell you is to make a list of 100 people and talk to anybody who has a pulse about your awesome opportunity, which basically just makes you a sales person that can make their own hours.

Seriously, think about that for a minute…

You’re working for a company as a sales person where you can just work when you want. That’s great but, that’s not being a business owner, that’s not building a large scalable business that really benefits you in the long run.

And guess what usually happens in that scenario?

You end up doing nothing at all!

Why?

Because nobody really likes selling!

Branding is about attracting not selling.

#3 IT HELPS YOU STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD.

Branding helps you stand out from all the other thousands of people that are online in your company selling the same products, services, and biz op as you are. It really defines you and pushes you out into the forefront from all the other noise that everybody else is saying and doing online. You basically eliminate competition because there is no one just like you! You are unique and people want to do business with a person not a company.

 

#4 IT ATTRACTS THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO YOU WHO WANT TO WORK WITH YOU.

When you’ve braded your business around you, you don’t have to stalk people, the right people are going to be attracted to your brand. In fact, people will literally be chasing you! They’re going to be asking you what you do and how they can work with you and this is the ultimate goal. A hot brand should be positioned to do a lot of the selling for you.

 

# 5 IT GIVES YOU THE OPTION TO CHOOSE TO PROSPECT OR NOT… SERIOUSLY!

I personally don’t prospect anymore.

I sucked at it!

I was horrible at it and it didn’t work for me because it really felt inauthentic. It didn’t feel right to prospect because everything was about the motive, the outcome.

How can I get them to join by team?

How can I get them to buy my products?

And I felt like yeah, maybe I was meeting people online but, I had an agenda.

You feel me?

But, branding combined with other marketing strategies gave me the OPTION to prospect or not.

 

#6 IT MAKES YOU THE AUTHORITY AND EXPERT IN YOUR NICHE.

When you do this branding thing right…the perfect people are going to look to you for leadership. They’re going to instantly see you as a leader.

When we sign up for a direct sales business and I know this is true for me, I really didn’t think about having to be a leader. I really didn’t think about it in depth, you know? It didn’t dawn on me! Lol!.

I mean, I was just super excited about being able to have time freedom and to be able to make all this money so I can quit my job!

And that’s really what we get excited about initially. And our up-line makes it sound so easy to accomplish. Until that time when we’re alone and we start thinking…

“OK what the heck do I do next?”

You know you don’t know what to do and you realize, oh crap! I gotta build a team!

I don’t know how to build a friggin’ team! Not only do I not know how to build a team but, how do I make my team successful!?

Not to mention, my up line is missing in action at least in my experience, and they didn’t really know what they were doing either!

Let me tell you, branding helps you become the leader almost by default automatically.  Combine that with specific marketing strategies, you become that leader and you will begin to learn how to help your teammates become leaders as well.

 

#7 IT PROVIDES FLEXIBILITY IN YOUR BUSINESS

So, leading with your personal brand instead of your direct sales company gives you the ability to have multiple streams of income from other sources other than your company.

When it comes to building a business, you don’t want to put all of your eggs in one basket. You never know what might happen with your company; I had two shut down on me!

Sometimes your products aren’t selling all that well or for some reason you decide you want to leave your current company that you’re with because you don’t feel like you resonate with it as much.

This happens a lot in our industry!

Whatever the reason, you’re not going to look flaky to people because you didn’t talk about your company and your products all day on social media. Your business isn’t going to skip a beat. They’re not going to see a difference when you change companies or introduce new affiliate products into the mix.

I know so many newbie marketers who do this; where one day they’re marketing one product and then a month later they’ve found something better.

And I don’t know if this has ever happened to you or you’ve had someone say…

“Oh so you’re selling that now, what happened to that other product you were selling, what happened to that other company you were in?”

And that’s kind of embarrassing.

You don’t want to look like you’re confused. Nobody wants to work with a confused person.

 

Allllriiiighty… we’re down to last one. =)

 

#8 BRANDING YOU KEEPS YOUR COMPANY SAFE.

That’s a big one! It’s HUGE!

There are a lot of MLM and direct sales companies out there that have been shut down by the FTC because of unscrupulous marketing tactics by their representatives. And that’s happened to me twice. I’ve had one company shut down completely and then the other one that just stopped doing business with U.S. and Canada all because of the way people were marketing!

When you’re constantly shouting out the name of your company and you’re using their logo and making even the smallest of claims… you can potentially get them in trouble.

You can help avoid that by not stating the name or association of the company on social media.

Obviously.

Lead with your brand not the company. Also, when you’re trying to sell products on your profile page it’s actually against Facebook’s Terms of Service and can get your profile page shut down.

All it takes is one complaint for some annoyed FB troll and BAMM!! They shut you down! And they won’t let you get another one either! You’ll have to do some really sneaky tactics to get another profile page. So branding protects you from that and it protects your company.

So those were the eight reasons why branding is so effective and why it can 10X your business by attracting more people to you who want what you have.
