The worst social media platforms to sell your beauty products
Social media platforms are the wave of the future for direct sellers and network marketers. You have so many choices to sell your products but are you picking the right choice? If you’re in the health and beauty industry you know there is a lot of competition out there. Your first step is to brand your business to set yourself about from all the noise.
Unfortunately, most presenters and distributors out there aren’t doing this most crucial step. As soon as they join their company and get there “marketing” instructions from their up-line, they are spamming their timeline and everyone else’s with their “salesy” posts and product demo’s to people who could careless. Then wonder way no body is paying attention or buying their products.
If you haven’t created your brand first and all that that entails, let’s talk!
I can save you so much pain and frustration and wandering around the net if you create a plan before you jump in and start selling on social media. Until then, it’s important to at least know what social media platforms work best or worst for your product line.
Here we go…
Before I go into the worst social media platforms to sell your health and beauty products, I’m going to go over the best places to get the most results from your marketing efforts.
Best Social Media Platforms | YouTube
YouTube is an amazing place to a showcase your products if you are in the health and beauty industry. It is a video sharing service where users can watch, like, share, comment and upload their own videos. The video service can be accessed on PCs, laptops, tablets and mobile phones.
YouTube is getting fancy too!
With new YouTube movies and original series made by regular people like you and me, you can really get YouTube famous if you tried. In fact, many beauty experts, after doing product reviews and have a large following, get approached my big companies to become a spokes person for their company that results in national commercials or free products.
As far as I’m concerned, YouTube is the best social media site to sell your products
Why…?
Because, people, women especially go to YouTube already looking to find tips and products just like yours to solve their problems! And what is your real job as a direct seller?? To solves problems!
And It doesn’t violate any TOS like other platforms to review, demo or sell your stuff. If you have the right keywords in place, you can get a ton of views and thus, sales for your products.
Best Social Media Platforms | Pinterest
Pinterest is a social media networking platform where people discover new ideas and find inspiration to do the things they love to do. 42% of women online are Pinterest users. 34% of users are between the ages of 18 – 29 and 28% are between the ages of 30 – 49, which creates a wide demographic of women who can be reached on this platform for you to sell to. AND it’s a buyers market! Unlike other prominent platforms, people love to come on Pinterest and buy, buy, buy!
Once you learn how to market properly on Pinterest to get the best results from your marketing efforts, you can really start making some good money.
Best Social Media Platforms | Instagram
Instagram is a social networking site made for sharing photos and videos from the comfort of your smartphone. Although there are some people out there that don’t like the platform because you cant really use it on your laptop, (I fit in that category, lol), its still a really popular site.
You can’t please everyone, right?
Just like Facebook or Twitter, everyone who creates an Instagram account has a profile and a news feed. With over 500 million users, Instagram is definitely making its ranks among the big dogs! Because it’s imaged based, you can use rich imagery to showcase your products and now, you have the option to create and upload hour long videos!
That’s progress!
One of the other thins I don’t like about Instagram is the interaction limitations and only being allowed to have one link in your bio and not on the individual posts themselves. But, if you’re good at driving traffic to your bio and have taken some training on how to effectively market on this platform, you should be good.
Ok, Now for the worst social media platform to sell your health and beauty products
Worst Social Media Platforms | Facebook
American women and men between the ages of 25 – 54 make up only 32% and 29% of the platform. Not the best place to find your target audience when selling makeup unless you have an older target market.
Facebook algorithms are horrible and change all the time. If you are trying to do beauty videos and demos you better make sure you already have a huge friends list on your profile page that are targeted for your niche of products and services.
If you are just running around with an audience of 400 or so of your friends and family or even worse, people already in your MLM company… your going to find it really difficult to get any traction. Having a few of your company up line and down line is cool to support your post but, you don’t want them to be the majority. Remember, your trying to sell your products not just create engagement.
It’s also against Facebook’s TOS to sell on your profile page. Just one complaint you could have your profile shut down.
Also, people don’t come to FB to buy stuff, they come to socialize and watch cute animal videos so you’ll need to market your products in a round about way to make it work.
Tip: build a target audience on your FB profile before you start displaying your products. Aim to max out your friends list at 5,000 if you want to get more engagement and possible customers from your marketing.
The way to really be successful on Facebook is by having a FB business page and running Facebook ads. It’s not expensive and you will be able to get the right people to see your products.
What Facebook is great for however, is establishing your brand.
You shouldn’t be pushing your products and MLM company on the front end anyway, you should be showcasing YOUR personal brand and you as the expert in your niche. You should be providing value that solves the problems of your target audience first and foremost. When you do this, and learn the types of post that attract, you will have people asking you how they can work with you.
So that’s it!
In order to be successful at marketing on social media you have to invest your time and money to learn how to market on your chosen platform that’s going to get you the most results. Each platform is different and has its own rules and regulations and do’s and don’ts.
Sure, you can scourer the net to find free training but, you do that at your own risk.
If you’re serious about your business you need to have a reliable proven source, of training that is continually updated and modified when changes are made by the platform.
Let’s face it, there’s a lot of outdated training out there free or paid, because social media is always changing.

"As an introvert entrepreneur I don't particularly enjoy chasing strangers online, networking events, talking about myself on social media or anything else you can think of that involves selling! But, because I learned how to market online the right way, I don't have to do those things."
